Wonderful office team, and Dr. Joe is great. My mom bought a hearing aid from North Shore Hearing, and it works well. Dr. Joe was very patient with her. He took the time to get the right fit and walked us through options that would work best for her needs. After months of trouble-free use, one of her hearing aids had a problem. Jen in the office was easy to work with and helped send it back for repair. The repair was covered under warranty, which made the process much less stressful. We’re grateful for the care my mom has received and would recommend this office to others looking for hearing aids.

I have more than a moderate hearing loss in both ears. Hearing aids are crucial to maintain quality of life. Without them life begins to lose its meaning. It took me quite a long time to come to this conclusion and a couple of years of researching hearing aids, audiologists and clinics. Fortunately I walked into North Shore Hearing and met with Joe. the audiologist. Being a retired physician I immediately recognized his caring and commitment to his patients. A far cry from my experience purchasing a pair of hearing aids from Costco. While Costco offers mid level products at a low price, instead of a medically trained audiologist you get a lay person who's previous position in the store may have been a stock boy, (as my sales person was). In my case those hearing aids were not the right fit for my needs. Cost isn't the best criteria for a medical device that you will be relying on every day for the rest of your life. After my examination, Joe took the time to explain in detail the results of my exam and inquired as to what I wanted out of a hearing aid so he could meet my expectations. The hearing aid industry is full of smoke and mirrors and designed to complicate and confuse the lay public. All I can say is Joe is a kind and trustworthy industry professional. I'm a 78 year old senior with two serious progressive heath issues, stage four lung cancer is one of hem. I want someone I can understand, who's articulate and trustworthy. Joe exceeded my expectations. The clinic is located off the Good Hope Port Washington road intersection. I give North Shore Hearing a five star recommendation. You simply can't find another like it. We've had good experiences with the folks at North Shore Hearing for at least a few years now. The doc and his staff are unfailingly helpful and compassionate -- dealing with older folks suffering from hearing loss requires patience and understanding. The hearing aid and aftercare - adjustments, additional fittings, etc - have worked very well. Their recommendations about other assistive devices, like "partner microphones," have been super helpful as well. Highly recommend.

_In response to my thoughts on my recent experience with North Shore Hearing , I want to go on record to say that it was in all aspects of endeavor extremely satisfying from beginning to end. The major surprise, however, was to learn that the person in charge of providing exactly the right hearing aids also made house calls, if needed. Such a declaration was music to my ears- a 93 year old recipient! “Dr. Joe” as he is modestly called is the adept and responsible professional who continues to make these house calls in this day and age. In my case, he proved to be genuinely interested in improving my quality of life. He certainly did this by questioning, listening, responding, and acting in order to achieve positive results. What a great idea! A Doctor who makes house calls!! Dr. Joe Aussem was recommended by my health insurance provider, United Health Care, for my hearing loss. He came on time, and brought his office and equipment. He was personable, careful, and thorough. I would add, gentle. His "program" included testing, diagnosis, the prescription, the fitting, and teaching - with three training sessions. The patient needs time and practice to get used to the new devices. Now I am enjoying a new world of sound and the comfort and security of my excellent Phonak devices, developed by a company based in Switzerland. Dr. Joe attends to my questions himself, with prompt return phone calls or e-mails. I recommend Dr. Joe for all your questions.

Dr. Joe was a real blessing to my mom. She is 100 yrs old and could not navigate an appt. outside of her assisted living facility. He came to her and what a difference good hearing makes to her quality of life! He was very professional and is a great communicator so I always knew what was going on. I highly recommend him!
